International Fuel Tax Agreement

IFTA

Quarterly fuel-tax filings, no missed deadlines.

Who needs this

Is this you?

If your truck weighs more than 26,000 pounds (or has three or more axles) and operates in more than one state or Canadian province, you're an IFTA filer. That covers most over-the-road commercial trucking.

  • Owner-operators running between Utah and Nevada, Arizona, or Idaho on any regular schedule
  • Fleets whose trucks cross state lines for routes, deliveries, or seasonal work
  • Excavation and construction outfits whose trucks occasionally leave Utah for an out-of-state job

What we file

The actual work, in plain language.

IFTA consolidates fuel tax across every state and province a truck runs in. Instead of filing separately in each jurisdiction, you file one quarterly return that covers all of them. We handle the entire return, from sorting through your fuel receipts to submitting the form with your base jurisdiction.

  • Mileage breakdown by jurisdiction: every state your trucks ran in that quarter
  • Fuel purchases by jurisdiction: where you bought, how much, what you paid
  • Tax calculation, net liability or refund
  • Filing with your base jurisdiction (Utah, for most of our customers)
  • Quarterly license and decal renewals when those come due

When it's due

IFTA returns are due four times a year: April 30, July 31, October 31, and January 31. The clock doesn't pause for holidays or weather.

What happens if you miss it

Late filings start at a $50 penalty plus interest on the tax owed. More importantly, a late filing flags your account for audit, and IFTA audits pull months of mileage and fuel records to verify every entry. A bad audit costs far more than filing on time ever does.

Our process

Three handoffs. That's it.

  1. 01

    You send us the quarter.

Mileage logs and fuel receipts, however you keep them: paper, ELD export, photos of receipts, a spreadsheet. You don't have to reformat anything for us.

  2. 02

    We calculate and file.

We break down miles and fuel by jurisdiction, run the IFTA math, and submit the return to your base jurisdiction. If there's a refund coming, we tell you. If there's tax owed, we tell you that too. No surprises at submission.

  3. 03

    You get the confirmation.

We send you the filing confirmation, a copy of the return, and a reminder for the next quarter. From the next quarter on, it's the same handoff: you send the records, we handle the rest.
