Idaho-registered trailer plates

Idaho Trailer Plating

One-time and renewal plating for Idaho-based fleets.

Who needs this

Is this you?

Idaho offers a permanent trailer plate: one filing, one fee, no renewals, ever. Fleets running through Idaho or based in Idaho use this to skip the annual trailer-registration cycle entirely. It's one of the better trailer-registration setups in the country.

  • Carriers based in Idaho with trailers in the fleet
  • Out-of-state fleets establishing an Idaho-based trailer pool
  • Owner-operators who want to retire the annual trailer renewal headache
  • Anyone tired of tracking trailer expiration stickers across a multi-trailer fleet

What we file

The actual work, in plain language.

Idaho's permanent trailer registration is a one-time filing per trailer, but the application has to be right the first time. We handle the paperwork, the title coordination, and the credential pickup so the trailer is plated and ready.

  • Idaho permanent trailer registration application
  • Title work and lien-holder coordination if the trailer is financed
  • Proof of insurance and required ownership documentation
  • Plate and cab card delivered to you
  • Ongoing additions for new trailers as the fleet grows

When it's due

Filed once when the trailer is added to the fleet. Idaho's permanent plates don't expire and don't renew. Once issued, the trailer is registered for its operating life.

What happens if you miss it

There's no annual deadline to miss, but a mis-filed initial application means delayed plates and a trailer sitting in the yard until the paperwork sorts out. We file it once, correctly, and you're done.

Our process

Three handoffs. That's it.

  1. 01

    You send the trailer.

Title, VIN, weight, lien information if any, and the proof of insurance Idaho requires. We'll tell you if anything else is needed for your specific configuration.

  2. 02

    We file with Idaho.

Application submitted to the Idaho Transportation Department, fees paid, supporting documents in. We track the application through to approval.

  3. 03

    You get the plate.

Permanent plate and cab card delivered. You never see this paperwork again for the life of the trailer.
